    Title: Area HSSE Manager

    KBR's Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) group is searching for a Project Area HSSE Manager to support HSSE efforts on a multi-billion-dollar project.

    KBR is in need of an experienced leader capable of managing stakeholders and influencing Global Project Execution within the Integrated Solutions (IS) Business Unit and KBR Sustainable Technology Solution (STS) Division. The Area HSSE Manager will be responsible for overseeing HSSE on a large-scale industrial project and will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful project completion by proactively identifying and mitigating risks, as well as responding to and remedying incidents across the global organization.


    • Set project HSSE objectives, programs, and performance measurement standards
    • Respond promptly to incidents, identify and mitigate risks globally
    • Assign adequate resources throughout the project phases to achieve HSSE objectives
    • Document and implement HSSE policies, plans, and procedures
    • Demonstrate KBR Leadership traits both in the office and field, serving as a safety leader within the organization
    • Manage incidents comprehensively, including root cause analysis and necessary improvement implementations; communicate incidents clearly and promptly to IS and Corporate leadership
    • Maintain visibility of incidents and HSERS metrics
    • Analyze leading and lagging safety data to prevent future incidents
    • Lead in hiring safety managers, onboard them successfully, and ensure their understanding of KBR HSSE systems and standards; provide guidance to all Project safety managers and site personnel to promote a Zero Harm culture
    • Develop and conduct training programs for contractors and Regional Safety Managers
    • Collaborate with regions' site personnel to drive effective site safety programs and culture
    • Act as the main contact for reporting safety data, analytics, incidents, and program progress to the Senior HSSE Manager/Deputy HSSE Manager, with dotted line reporting to Project Management

    ***Candidate must hold or be able to acquire a valid passport***

    Experience & Skills

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering or HSE-related field
    • 7+ years of progressive experience
    • Proficiency in Chinese language
    • Effective communication skills with diverse audiences
    • Experience in supporting Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental systems
    • Familiarity with relevant local, state/provincial, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
    • Detail-oriented and able to work efficiently within deadlines
    • Problem-solving and analytical skills

    ***Candidate must pass a drug screen and background check

    Additional Qualifications

    • Experience in PMC with China-based EPC Contractors and work execution in Angola is preferred
    • Background in industrial construction and understanding of regulatory requirements
    • Demonstrated strong interpretive thinking and mature judgment
    • Ability to lead the HSE function in large-scale projects
    • Advanced computer skills, including word processing, email, spreadsheets, presentations, and databases
    • Excellent critical thinking and reasoning abilities
    • Strong presentation and public speaking skills
    • Effective organizational and leadership capabilities
    • Valid driver's license, if needed
