    Scope of the SERVICE: The role of the Operations Geologist is to carry out, jointly with other operational entities, the preparation and the geological follow-up of the wells. The challenge is to optimise Geological operations and minimise operational delays while respecting the high standard of safety and environment level.

    Position to report to: Head of Service Geological Operations (GSR/SUB/OPE) Direct subordinate positions: Wellsite Geologists Position status: Rotational (2 persons in rotation to ensure a complete 24/7 cover)

    Location: Onshore at Offices (GSR/SUB) DESIGNEE(S) shall:
    • Prepare future wells. In cooperation with other entities such as geology, drilling , reservoir, etc and with contractors representatives he will define the well architecture, the casing depths, the trajectory, the drilling and geological hazards and the well data acquisition programmes such as mudlogging, solid and fluid sampling, coring, logging while and /or after drilling, formation pressure, etc. · Draw-up the well technical prognosis reports. · Define operational procedures and verify their application. · Supervise geological operations. · Control the quality, validate the well data and ensure a smooth data flow with other entities, headquarter, partners and third parts. · Validate the daily geological report before its transmission to the COMPANY's operations representative, other entities, headquarter, partners and third parties. · Provide support to the well site geologists on all matters concerning geological operations and well data interpretation. · Assure that services and all equipment provided by well data acquisition contractors are in conformity with the related contract specification check the related invoices and participate in service quality meetings. · Provide logistical support for well site crew changes and samples shipment. · Draw-up the well composite log and participate in drawing-up the geological end of well report. · Interpret and quantify formation petrophysic characteristics and their fluid contents. · Audit data acquisition contractors. · If requested by COMPANY, ensure the training of junior geologists. · Provide experience and know how reports when using new tools or when uncommon environmental or operational conditions are faced.
    At COMPANY's request, DESIGNEE(S) may perform part of the SERVICE on the Offshore Wellsite to provide support to COMPANY's operations representative.

    TOOLS and SOFTWARE used to provide SERVICE DESIGNEE(S) shall be familiar with the following softwares, currently used in the oil industry:
    • WINLOG – GRAVITAS (HRH application) for geological litho-log and composite log drawing and for the edition of the daily report and end of well report. This reporting software is now used in all Company affiliates. · Gas While Drilling (GWD) in house Excel calculation sheet for the quality control and interpretation of the gas shows. · NAVIPRO in house Excel calculation sheet for well deviation and geosteering follow-up of deviated or horizontal wells. · Depending on assignments other software are commonly used in Company affiliates such as : · POWERLOG (PETCOM software) for petrophysical quick look and quantitative interpretation of the formations recognized in the well. · GEOLOG 6 (PARADIGM software) for quantitative petrophysical interpretation of the formations recognized in the well. · DRILLWORKS-PREDICT (KNOWLEDGE SYSTEMS software) for formation pressure evaluation before, while and after drilling. · PEARL (eTech software) for pressure data storage and pressure plot drawing. · SISMAGE (in house software) for the geosteering of deviated or horizontal wells with direct link to the seismic interpretation. · Microsoft Office Package is routinely used in all Company affiliates. COP TOOL BOX – including PEARL (for formation pressure data base and follow up), CORAL (for GWD basic interpretation) & AMBER.DESIGNEE(S) shall fully comply with the COMPANY operational procedures related to geological surveys, guidelines and recommendations concerning mudlogging, MWD-LWD, wireline logging, pipe conveyed logging, coring, geosteering, formation fluids contents evaluation, etc.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATION and BACKGROUND Formal education (Diplomas): Graduate Technician or Engineer Professional experience (number of years): A minimum of 10 years of petroleum industry experience from an international oil company . Certification Degree in the supervision of operation geology

    Language: ENGLISH – Spoken and Written PORTUGUESE recommended FRENCH recommended HSE: Updated BST/HUET certification. 12 Golden Rules.
