    Description


    All UNHCR staff members are responsible for carrying out their duties according to their job description and delegated authorities, following the organization's regulatory framework. This includes complying with the UN Charter, UN Staff Regulations and Rules, UNHCR Policies and Administrative Instructions, and relevant accountability frameworks. Furthermore, staff members must fulfill their responsibilities in alignment with the core values of professionalism, integrity, and respect for diversity.

    Duties:

  • Provide secretarial and administrative support to the UNHCR Office to enhance its performance.
  • Manage supervisor's calendar, arrange appointments, handle telephone calls, and respond to queries with discretion.
  • Organize internal and external meetings, including those with high-ranking officials, and prepare meeting minutes.
  • Offer informal translations and act as an interpreter when needed.
  • Compose confidential correspondence, documents, and reports.
  • Receive, screen, and route correspondence, attaching relevant background information and maintaining a follow-up system.
  • Prepare official correspondence, documents, and reports for review by the supervisor, ensuring timely follow-up actions. Maintain electronic and hard copy filing systems.
  • Support Human Resources tasks such as attendance records, travel arrangements, and preparation of travel documents for unit staff.
  • Assist in organizing visit programmes, preparing briefings, and collecting necessary documentation for missions, meetings, and visits.
  • Undertake other relevant duties as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education & Professional Work Experience
  • Relevant work experience of 2 years with High School Diploma; or 1 year of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Language Requirements:
  • For International Professional and Field Service roles: Proficiency in English and the UN working language of the duty station if it is not English.
  • For National Professional roles: Proficiency in English, the UN working language of the duty station if not English, and the local language.
  • For General Service positions: Proficiency in English and/or the UN working language of the duty station if it is not English.
