    Logistics Manager

    Join our team as a Logistics Manager and play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Distribution Centre. As a Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the day-to-day operations of receiving, warehousing, and distribution of goods.

    Responsibilities:

    • Plan and organize the day-to-day operations of the Distribution Centre, ensuring that warehouse processes are running smoothly and promptly.
    • Manage and control the Logistics department's activities, ensuring that departmental objectives are met.
    • Manage the Importation department and processes, ensuring that goods are landed, released, and transported to warehouses as scheduled.
    • Build a network of suppliers and providers that can provide products and materials to the company in line with expected costs, quality, and availability.

    Key Outputs:

    • Manage the Importation department and processes, ensuring that goods are landed, released, and transported to warehouses as scheduled.
    • Produce stock demand forecasts and place orders on time to ensure no interruption in supply.
    • Create shipping schedules and monitor progress to ensure smooth arrival and receiving of goods.
    • Coordinate and direct the warehouse operations, ensuring that distribution targets are met.
    • Liaise with transport companies to meet customer expectations.
    • Manage stock control procedures and reconcile physical stock with information held on the data storage system.
    • Coordinate and plan staff schedules, and oversee the implementation of staff work routines.
    • Create and maintain technical and commercial supplier comparison database for easy supplier selection and assessment.
    • Engage with key suppliers on smaller purchases to resolve problems with the timeliness or quality of supplies.
    • Analyze previous year purchases and collect the needs of the current year to prepare the purchasing forecast.
    • Keep track of available stock/supplies and average consumption to proactively plan for upcoming purchases.
    • Open advances based on quotation total and close advances by procured invoices.

    Planning Cycle:

    • Produce annual, quarterly, and monthly stock forecasts.
    • Plan orders to address seasonal sales.
    • Plan documentation and arrange official payments (licenses, etc.) to prepare for timeous release of shipments.

    Level of Authority:

    • Take decisions in own areas of responsibility.

    Major Challenges:

    • Balancing stock, ensuring the right amount of stock in the warehouse at the right time.

    Technical Competencies:

    • MS Office basics, able to develop and maintain spreadsheets and generate reports.
    • Management skills.
    • Finance Course, such as finance for non-financial managers, would be advantageous.
