GIANVITTORIO MASELLI

My name is Gianvittorio Maselli, Italian, 54 years old, International Manager with over 25 years of leadership experience in Europe, Latin America, the United States and Africa. 

For the past four years I was the CEO of Movicel, the second largest mobile operator in Angola and prior to that I spent 20 years with the Telecom Italia Group in a variety of roles. 

Currently I´m Movicel Board Advisor, I reside at Luanda and I speak fluently English, Portuguese, Italian, Spanish and Turkish.

I grew up in a military diplomatic family and hold a degree in Political Science - International Relationships and Affairs. and a Master in International Trade.

I´m looking for a new opportunity based in Angolaa taking advantage of my local and international experience. 

From Januray 2016 until February 2020 CEO of Movicel, the second largest mobile operator in Angola and currently Movicel Board Advisor for Auditing and Security activities. 

As CEO of a Company Restructuring Process, I´ve introduced innovative solutions in Angola enabling the company to grow 20% in the first three years reaching 2 million subscribers with a revenue of USD 180 millions in 2019, with approximately 850 direct employees and two thousand indirect. 

As a leader of a company providing a public service, I worked in a dynamic environment with the ability to take decisive action and I´ve interacted with the highest Representatives of State and with Security Organs of Angola, a high risk country in continuous transformation. 

I managed and renegotiated the company's historical debt which in 2016 was approximately USD 200 million.  I introduced aggressive expense reduction strategies    (-25% over the first two years).  I negotiated a USD 150 million loan with several international institutions for a faster growth of the network starting the company's digital transformation process,  including the new "Mobile Money" service and the implementation of an advanced Cyber Security protection system. 

In 2017, with a bid of USD 97 million, I won the auction for the allocation of new radio frequencies and achieved for Movicel the Title of Global Universal Operator that has allowed it to expand the business in fixed network, TV and Internet. 

In 2018, I negotiated with the Ministry of Labor and the Trade Union Commission to find appropriate solutions to improve working employees’ conditions and salaries.   

In March 2019, I signed a Consultancy Agreement with Vodafone for a strategic and operational support in a range of areas, including consumer marketing, technology, and business operations to improve the quality of services offered to Movicel customers and accelerate the expansion of digital services across Angola.   

In October 2019 I signed a contract for the acquisition of two new generation Huawei Core Switches for the modernization and growth of the network, including the construction of more than 500 new towers powered by Sustainable Solutions. 

I represented Movicel as the shareholder in Angola Cable, a submarine cable operator, of which I was Vice-President of the General Assembly. 

From 2020 I work as Movicel Board Advisor.

I grew up in a military diplomatic family and holds a degree in Political Science - International Relationships at La Sapienza University of Rome and I won a scholarship for a Master's degree in "International Trade" including an internship in Moscow. 

I served with the military in the Italian Air Force as Lieutenant. 

I speak fluently Italian, Portuguese, English, Spanish and intermede Turkish.
